Do you support recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by changing the Constitution or making some other kind of legal change?
Yes
Should we have a statement that acknowledges the First Peoples of Australia?
Yes. This should be in the Constitution.
Do you have any other comments on a statement about the First Peoples of Australia?
Australia's first peoples, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have consistently been excluded from the discussions concerning their ancestral lands and territories. Australia's Constitution expressly discriminates against Aboriginal and Torres
Should the word 'race' be taken out of the Constitution?
Yes
Do you have any other comments on powers to make laws for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples?
It is a miscarriage of justice and an international embarrassment that the Australian Constitution has failed to protect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander rights, the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) (RDA) has been compromised on three occasions,
Do you think that a guarantee against racial discrimination should go into the Constitution?
Yes
Do you have any ideas about what words to use for that guarantee, or where in the Constitution to put it?

Do you have any other comments on changing the Constitution to stop racial discrimination?

Do you think Indigenous people should have a say when Parliament and government make laws and policies about Indigenous affairs?
Yes
Should a new Indigenous group be set up under the Constitution to give advice and make sure Indigenous people have a voice in political decisions that affect them?
No
Do you have any other comments on this Indigenous group?
Every Australian State and Territory should have Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander representation (at least two, or a number that best represents their population within that State or Territory).
Should we delete section 25?
Yes
What would we achieve by getting rid of section 25?
By eliminating S25, the Constitution is both consistent with Australian human rights obligations and fosters a culture of non-discrimination by race for all Australians
Is there any point in keeping it?
The ambiguity that remains whilst s25 remains in the Australian Constitution is inconsistent with Australia's human rights obligations.
Do you have any other comments?
