Mick Gooda is a descendent of the Gangulu people of central Queensland, is the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner, and a Royal Commissioner of the Royal Commission into the Child Protection and Youth Detention Systems of the Government of the Northern Territory. Mr Gooda was previously Chief Executive Officer of the Cooperative Research Centre for Aboriginal Health, and served as a member of the Expert Panel on Constitutional Recognition of Indigenous Australians.
